The Cyrenian helps Jesus carry the Cross

Fifth Station
Officiant: We adore thee, O Christ and we praise thee.  (genuflect)
All: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Officiant: And when they had mocked Him, they took the purple from Him, and put His own clothes on Him, and led him out to crucify Him.  And they compelled one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear His cross.  And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, the place of a skull.  (Mark 15:20-22)

All:
I cried unto the Lord with my voice;
yea, even unto the Lord did I make my supplication.  I poured out of my complaints before Him,
and showed him of my trouble.  When my spirit was in heaviness, thou knewest my path;
in the way wherein I walked, have they privily laid a snare for me.  I looked also upon my right hand,
and saw there was no man that would know me.  I had no place to flee unto,
and no man cared for my soul.  (Psalm 142:1-5)

Let us pray.
O GOD of grace and might, accept our prayers and sacrifices, and be moved to have mercy upon us.  Strengthen us in our weakness so that our rebellious wills may yield to Thy divine will in all things.  This we ask of Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Sing: Bruised, derided, cursed, defiled,
She beheld her tender child,
All with bloody scourges rent.
